Did you hear someone say Lego and robot in the same breath? Now you have our attention! Legorobotics is the theme for the day at Lauritzen Garden. What better way to celebrate Arbor Day and a Lego Sculpture display at a botanical garden than to include Lego robots! We simply can not wait for the big day to arrive and now it is here! We are impressed with the fantastic design effort that Lauritzen Gardens put into the robot game board – it is the best we have seen!
The educational model is a horticultural teaching and learning moment. The tree on the board needs soil around its roots – the brown Lego pieces; water around its roots – the blue and white Lego pieces; sunlight and chlorophyll to its leaves – the yellow and green Lego pieces. The bird should find its nest. Of course the robot must do all this. Three robots are allowed on the board to get this done within five minutes. Consistent results? Well the bird finds its nest with amazing accuracy, but often get moved off the nest onto a branch when the next big robot passes through with sunlight and chlorophyll. What is a bird to do? Let’s hope the bird sits tight and does not fly off!
There is a great time had by all at this event. Youth teams start the robot game round, then adults give the challenge their best effort.
It was most exciting at the end when the scores are tallied and it is time for prizes. There is a special person who donated fantastic prizes! Thank you! We can not wait until the next event!
